Waikiki hotel names general manager to lead $35 million renovation

“Jeff Perkins will continue to serve as general manager of Honolulu’s Queen Kapiolani Hotel, which recently began a $35 million renovation that was first announced in July.

Perkins, who has been general manager of the property for two years, will oversee the transformation of the Waikiki property in his newly expanded role. The hotel will relaunch as a four-star, full-service hotel later this year.

Perkins was most recently the hotel manager at The Kahala Hotel & Resort, and previously worked as the director of operations and resort manager at Turtle Bay Resort on Oahu’s North Shore, where he helped lead a multimillion-dollar renovation.

“I am beyond excited to continue on in my role as general manager, now with the added responsibility of ushering this beloved property into its next era,” Perkins said. “The new vision for Queen Kapiolani Hotel is bold and energetic, combining the best of the golden days of old Waikiki with the nightlife, culinary offerings and art and culture of modern aloha.”

The John Hardy Group International is overseeing the renovation of the Queen Kapiolani, which is owned by DiamondHead Land. Honolulu architecture firm G70 and interior design firm Philpotts Interiors have also been contracted for the project, which will include a refresh of the 48-year-old hotel’s guestrooms, corridors, public spaces, fitness center, landscaping, restaurant and pool deck.
